About Braehead

Braehead Curling Rink

Over the last few years Braehead has played host to a number of major activities, most notably the World Curling Championships in April 2000, the Scottish Championships and the World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2005. The hosting of such events has allowed the staff and management a unique insight into the highest level of curling and the experience of providing facilities and services in all aspects of the sport.

Braehead is in an ideal location being only 8 miles west of Glasgow City Centre, via M8 motorway. It is only 3 miles east of Glasgow International Airport, Glasgow Prestwick Airport is 25 miles to the south and there are excellent road links from both airports. There are ample quality hotels both locally and in the City Centre.

There is free parking for 6500 cars with 600 disabled spaces. There are taxi ranks, coach parking and a bus station served by approx. 900 buses per day.

The eight sheet curling rink has excellent quality ice provided at all times by the Braehead dedicated ice team. All equipment is available on site. There is excellent wheelchair access on and off the ice.

The bar and hospitality facilities overlook both the ice rink and the River Clyde.  Snacks and refreshments are available at the bar and special dietary requirements can be accommodated.

A BIG THANK YOU to ...
