Provost's Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to Renfrewshire and to the Glynhill Ladies International Curling Competition. I know that the organisers are working hard to ensure that this year's event is even better than previous years. Renfrewshire has a long history in curling and still today the Renfrewshire Province of the RCCC is the second largest in Scotland. It is an honour for so many teams to be in Renfrewshire as this is the last curling championship tour event before the Olympic World Games. The excellent facilities at Braehead and Greenacres provide our curlers with great opportunities to enjoy their sport and the friendships it generates, but there is much more to Renfrewshire than curling. I hope that you will have the chance to explore our heritage and landscape, see something of Paisley Abbey, the site of the first recorded curling match, and get a breath of fresh air at Castle Semple or Gleniffer Braes. You could even go skiing at Xscape just next door to Braehead, no matter what the temperature.

 Tunnocks

SCOTLANDS FAVOURITE
Progressing from local nibbles to national institutions, Tunnock’s biscuit products have acquired the proud status of genuine Scottish icons. To many, the Tunnock’s name evokes pleasant memories of their youth…that longed-for snack straight after school…that Granny treat on Sundays…and the desire not to waste a single crumb. On walks down memory lane, Scots often encounter a wafer, a log or a teacake.

Thank You to our Sponsors

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to thank all the sponsors who are supporting the Glynhill Ladies International by making contributions to ensure the event’s success.

The Glynhill Hotel and Leisure Club in Renfrew has been extremely supportive with its 3 year title sponsorship agreement. I would also like to pay a special mention to the 2005 Women’s World Championship committee who first initiated the idea of an international competition and contributed surplus funds from the championship held in Paisley.

Our aim is to provide a competition of the highest standard and to make the Glynhill Ladies International an annual event which teams will not want to miss. It would not be possible to achieve our goals without contributions, both small and large, from our sponsors.

Judith McFarlane
