8 of the 10 Olympic Teams are heading to Scotland!

The 2010 Glynhill Ladies’ International is the last event on the Curling Champions Tour prior to the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. 24 teams including 8 Olympic representative teams will take to the ice at Braehead from 15th -17th January 2010 in their final competition prior to the eagerly awaited Olympic Games. All eyes will be focussed on Team GB which consists of Eve Muirhead, Jackie Lockhart, Kelly Wood, Lorna Vevers and Karen Addison. The Glynhill Ladies International provides a great opportunity for Team GB to compete at home with local support, at a hugely important time in their training calendar. Canada’s Olympic Trials take place in December. The winning team, which is guaranteed to be a very strong contender in the Olympic Games, will compete at Braehead and will certainly be closely watched! 2009 World Champions from China, skipped by Bingyu Wang, are attending. As the first Asian team to win the World Curling Championships, they have attracted great attention and have high hopes for Vancouver. Teams also representing Austria, England, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA and of course Scotland, promise a weekend of top class competition at Braehead with a total prize pot of £8000! The Organising Committee is indebted to support from the funding organisations and sponsors that enables it to continue to produce a World-class event. New support from Tunnock’s, Mitchells Hire Drive, the Royal Caledonian Curling Club Ladies Branch and Arran Aromatics is most gratefully appreciated and will allow the 2010 event to prosper.
