Auction winners versus Russia
23/01/10
The Russian Ladies Olympic team who had been competing in the Glynhill Ladies International at Braehead had agreed to play two 4-end games against local curlers. A silent lottery had been arranged to find opponents, the lucky winners of this auction were a team from the Nondies C.C. and a team from the Waterfront Junior C.C. At the end of a week of practice for the Olympics the matches took place on 23rd January. The Juniors played first and had a most enjoyable and never to be forgotten game although narrowly defeated. The Nondies went into the end one shot down but skip Charles Jackson drew a magnificent last stone shot to tie the game. The Event Committee laid on sandwiches and snacks while the Glynhill Hotel provided champagne, all of which was dispensed by the Braehead Staff.
